Abstract

At the simplest level, prejudice is an intrinsic attitude towards another individual which holds no logic or reasoning. Racism, on the other hand, refers to discrimination of races, considering some as superior to others. This distinction suggests that, while there is an obvious link between the two, they cannot be considered to be the same. From a sociological angle, cultural prejudice could be defined as opinions about a member of a particular group based on a pre-existing perception, attitude, and viewpoint of the group, regardless of the particular characteristics of the individual.
