Abstract

On 14 February 2009, just a year after her death, the Institute of Psychoanalysis and the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust jointly hosted a conference in honour of Isabel Menzies Lyth. This article provides an introduction to the papers in this special issue of the British Journal of Psychotherapy, which are the outcome of this conference. The symposium editors hope that these articles will convey to readers the richness of Isabel Menzies Lyth’s professional life and work, and show the continuing fertility of her ideas and methods for thinking about the range of issues with which she was concerned.
