Chapter 12 addresses the meaning of the criminal act and its developmental roots and then considers the particular nature of the therapeutic relationship and the impact on staff of working with offender patients, and briefly discusses institutional and organizational issues arising from treating and managing these individuals; wherever possible, heavily disguised and anonymized case material is provided to illustrate the concepts discussed.
